Cosmetology 10 Introductory
6 Credits
Prerequisite: None
Like all CTS classes at LaZerte, this “hands on” course introduces students to the concepts and applications of basic hair, skin and nail care services.  The topics covered are designed to assist both male and female students with their personal and self-improvement needs.  It is also a great sampling of what a career in cosmetology might be like as it is a prerequisite for all 20 level interest and career courses.

Cosmetology 20 Intermediate
6 Credits
Prerequisites: Cosmo 10 Introductory
This intermediate level interest Cosmetology course is designed for students who have a personal interest or use for developing and enhancing hairstyling skills acquired in Cosmetology 10. The topics covered will relate to hair, nail and skin care.  This
course consists of practical and theoretical applications. 

Cosmetology 30 Advanced
6 Credits
Prerequisites: Cosmo 20 Intermediate              
This advanced level interest Cosmetology course is designed for students who have a personal interest or use for developing and enhancing skills acquired in Cosmetology 20.  The topics covered will relate to the design process, makeup, make over, facials, body adornment and hair removal.  This course consists of practical and theoretical applications.

Cosmetology 20 Intermediate Career
24 Credits
Prerequisite: Cosmo 10

 Intermediate Cosmetology is an apprenticeship training program.  This is intensive career training in skills of Hairstyling and Esthetics.  Students receive theoretical and practical instruction in haircutting, perming, hair coloring, setting and styling, hair and scalp treatments, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, skin care, sales, workplace safety and various skills related to nails, skin and hair service.  Students practice skills learned on manikins and models in preparation for client services at the Cosmetology advanced level.  Students are required to purchase a student equipment kit for this course.  This course is a prerequisite for Advanced Cosmetology Career.

Cosmetology 30 Advanced Career
24 Credits
Prerequisite: Completion of 24 Intermediate modules.

This is the advanced level of the full Apprenticeship Career Technical Training Program.  This course is a continuation of Intermediate Career Cosmetology.  Students at this level complete their requirements for licensing by focusing on skill refinement and advancement through performance and practice of hairstyling and esthetic services.  Client service is an essential component of this course.
