Here are some scholarly resources to assist you with researching an author. As always, feel free to ask library staff for assistance.

Online Resources

A good place to start searching for biographical information is the Alberta Learning Online Reference Centre.

Go to The Canadian Encyclopedia to print an article on a Canadian author.

Go to Grolier Online to print an article on your individual from one (or more) of the encyclopedias.

Go to ELibrary Plus to find newspaper and magazine articles, excerpts from books, or transcripts of television/radio broadcasts about your author.

To get a picture of your individual,

	go to the Online Reference Centre, ELibrary Plus
	enter the name in the search box.
	select "Pictures" for type of resource.

Internet Sites

Internet Public Library Online Literary Criticism Collection

The IPL Online Literary Criticism Collection contains 4745 critical and biographical websites about authors and their works that can be browsed by author, by title, or by nationality and literary period. Sites meet quality standards, and are selected by librarians.

Canadian Literature Archive

The Canadian Literature Archive from the University of Manitoba provides brief biographical information about Canadian writers, as well as a wide range of other material including some online texts of out-of-print books.

Text Resources

Use the library catalogue (Start, EPS Applications, Library Catalogue) to search for books on your author. In addition check the reference section for many helpful books such as
