Purposes:
1. To provide background information about Shakespeare’s Comedies, and humour in general
2. To familiarize ourselves with Shakespeare’s topics and writing style
3. To integrate non-fiction texts with the study of a fictional tale
4. To depict that there are different kinds of humour, and different ways comedy and humour can be expressed
5. To effectively work as a member of a group
Assignment:
Use the resources of the library (books, Shakespeare page, Internet) to find out as much as you can about the topic your group has been assigned. Take notes so you remember what you have read, seen or heard. After you have collected your information, get together with the other members of your group to compile a report on the information you have gathered. You will be giving a brief oral report to share your information with the rest of the class so that everyone will have information about each of the topics.
You will be required to present a written report along with any visual information you may wish to include: for example, posters (or a playbill), power point, video, role playing, costumes, etc. Your creativity has no limits!! All members of your group will participate in the oral presentation, and your evaluation will be based on this participation, the information, and your creativity. A collection of the researched information and your rough work will be handed in along with the report. Do not just hand in the material your group has printed from the Internet without reading and analyzing this material (highlight the important aspects). You will be deducted marks if you have done so.
